Feature #660
Force Enable ReadyBoost on Windows 7
Description
I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop using an SSD hybrid drive. I decided to use ReadyBoost to try and get a little more performance out of games, since the hardware is a little dated (apart from the SSD). When I inserted a class 10 SD card and went to the drives properties I found that there was not a tab for ReadyBoost.
After searching around online I found that I am able to reenable ReadyBoost through regedit.
- Go to Start and enter regedit in the search bar, then open Regedit
- Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\rdyboost\AttachState
- There will be a number of cryptic looking names, however from my instance there was a single entry that had a non-zero value. I enabled it on my drive by setting every entry values to 0.
- Now go back to Computer and right-click on the drive to use ReadyBoost on, then go to the ReadyBoost tab and configure accordingly.
