Fixing No GPS Lock on Samsung Galaxy SIII

Description

While I was doing some traveling, I decided to use my phone for navigation using OsmAnd. However, when I opened the app I did not get a lock from any of the GPS satellites. While browsing around I found an app that fixed the problem for me, called FasterFix; root is required. How I fixed it was:
  1. Download and install FasterFix
  2. Open FasterFix and allow temporary root access (10min.)
  3. Select North America from the pull-down menu
  4. Tap Go

This fixed my GPS problem.

UPDATE 1: I updated my ROM to a newer version and some how broke the FasterFix workaround. However I found another app that fixed the issue, called GPS Test. Once installed I opened up Menu -> Update AGPS
