Install RDPWrap To Enable Remote Desktop Server on Windows 8.1 Standard Edition
Description
One of the things I hate most about Windows is the price tiered releases of Windows that enable or disable certain features depending on how much you spend. One of those lacking features is the Remote Desktop Server in the Standard "Non-Pro" Edition of Windows 8.1.
Get your shit together Microsoft.
Luckily, RDPWrap is an open source project that installs and enables the remote desktop on versions of Windows lacking the feature.
Install RDPWrap¶
- Download and extract the RDPWrap package.
- Open the RDPWrap folder and right-click on install.bat and select Run as administrator.
- When the install script finished, double-click on RDPConf.exe.
- Set the Authentication Mode to GUI Authentication Only, then click OK.
- Now open a Remote Desktop client and connect to the remote workstation.
